The Powerhouse Museum through its support of excellence in Australian design and innovation makes an annual selection of products from the finalists in the Australian International Design Awards, and then awards one superior winner. The recipients of the Powerhouse Museum Design Award and Selection have proven to demonstrate excellence in design and innovative use of new technologies to provide significant benefits to users. To acknowledge and reward outstanding examples of sustainable design, Standards Australia in partnership with Sustainability Victoria, the Design Institute of Australia, and WSP Environmental, have developed an Award for Excellence in Sustainable Design, as part of the Australian International Design Awards. Wheels Automotive Design Awards is a collaboration between Wheels, Australia's leading motoring magazine, and the Australian International Design Awards, that recognises and rewards the best in automotive design on the Australian car market every year. More information.

The Australian International Design Awards, a division of Standards Australia, and Dyson Appliances (Australia) have formed an ongoing partnership, first established in 2001. The key objective is to develop Australia's leading design award recognising the outstanding talent of students of design, engineering and technology in Australia's tertiary institutions.

Each year the Australian International Design Awards presents the DesignTECH Selection For Concept Design and Innovation Excellence. The aim of this selection is to recognise and reward the work of one outstanding secondary student of design and technology through the annual DesignTECH program. The selection criteria include innovation, concept design, detail resolution, commercial viability and overall quality of presentation.
